When I first thought about decorating our outdoor spaces, I immediately thought about new furniture, pathways and all the things you see on the television programs that cost so much to redo and build. I quickly realized that these types of improvements, though they would be wonderful, are way out of our budget these days so I had to come up with another idea. Since I wanted a place to be filled with color, I thought about a planter that I had seen and liked so I went with some a lovely planters that I could place around the patio and deck and plant an assortment of blooming plants.

Though that was a great start, the planters where ground to wait high level and I wanted something else to draw the eye up. With that in mind, I found a great hanging basket that I hung up around the patio but had a problem with the deck since it is not covered. The answer came in the form of Sheppard Hooks. My husband fastened the hooks to the deck posts so I could hang more baskets on the deck. I love the fact that I spent minimal dollars and still created a great look for our outdoor spaces.

According to the Roman philosopher, Pliny the Elder, the Italian town of Portofino was originally named Port of the Dolphins (Portus Delphini ) because of the number of those animals found in the bay. Today, in addition to serving as a regional center, the fishing village of Portofino attracts people from all over the world and is considered one of the loveliest spots on the Mediterranean. The Portofino European View tapestry captures the charm of this magical place. Shadows fall across the faces of the tall, angular building clustered along the waterfront. Groups of awning cafés and umbrellaed tables are scattered about the promenade. Elegant sailboats with slender masts sit in the still, reflective water. In the distance, a wider view of the harbor shows purple mountains surmounted by gold hued clouds.

The Portofino View tapestry can be found in the European Tapestries department of Decor4u.com. Enter the Tapestry Shop and select European Tapestries and look in the Coastal section. The Portofino View tapestry has been beautifully constructed of 100% cotton and measures 53 inches wide by 42 inches high.
