With all of the different baby products out there it’s hard to choose which one is right for your little one, especially when it comes to blankets. Babies form such an emotional attachment to their blankets that quality becomes important too. After all, they drag those everywhere. But among all of the different choices out there, I’ve found that Little Giraffe Blankets take the cake.

Little Giraffe baby blankets are just the right combination of softness and durability. (And by durable, what we’ve found is that these blankets can last all the way through the preschool years if properly cared for.) Plus, the satin edges give your little one a variety of softness that’s just irresistible. These blankets are loved by even celebrity babies, and come in a great variety of colors, not just the traditional pink and blue, to suit all kinds of little personalities. The chenille blanket, their most popular, is the perfect snuggle accessory, providing warm and comfort through the night, or through a nap. Little Giraffe also has a variety of other materials including satin and velvet for warmer seasons or different kinds of comfort and softness.

Have you ever had bean and bacon bit soup? I didn’t either until after I got married to my husband. His grandmother, a true hillbilly woman, puts on a pot of this every Thursday morning and by supper time it is ready and the entire extended family (including grandkids and great grandkids) gathers in her kitchen to enjoy the soup and each other’s company. I’m so grateful “Grandma” has shared this special recipe with me.

Be it for informal gatherings like this or just as a hearty lunch or a light dinner, you can’t beat a good pot of soup on a cold day. There are literally thousands of bean soup recipes for you to try. One of the things I like best about bean soup is that you can leave it simmering on the stove for a long time. It makes it the perfect meal for those nights when everybody seems to eat at a different time. You can also refrigerate and freeze these types of soups and just pull them out and reheat later. Most bean soups will last for a few days in the fridge and will keep for months in the freezer.
